Lead Author, Editorial Board - multiple (UK, EU or Sydney preferably)

Big Picture is developing intelligent pathway technology, powering the first single platform for collaborative healthcare and clinical research globally. Our core solution captures structured, protocolised and clinically validated data, empowering better patient-centred outcomes and generating new leaps in healthcare.

Our teams collaborate across Sydney, London and remotely; servicing our customer base in Europe, Asia and North America. To achieve our mission, we drive Product-First frameworks. Fusing design, technology and clinical thinking together, we create simple software that clinicians deeply love to use.

The people who join us will have:

  • An enthusiasm and readiness to make real change in the global healthcare and technology industry;
  • The desire to work hard with a great team to solve life-changing, complex and challenging problems;
  • Our inclusive values support genuine diversity in culture, experience and expertise;
  • A hunger to build a vision from the ground up, while being proactive in identifying and filling gaps; and
  • An attitude to make the whole team better because you are there.

The Role

As a Lead Author on Big Picture’s Editorial Board, you’ll contribute your clinical knowledge to the development of the artificial intelligence and decision support tools that power the Big Picture Platform.

As an experienced clinician, you’ll have specialist level clinical knowledge and be close to completing your specialist training (advanced trainee, senior registrar, fellow or consultant), with full general medical registration (unrestricted licence to practice). No technology or AI experience is needed, however you must have the motivation and desire to contribute to the future of technology and AI in medicine.

Our Lead Author positions will require at least 3 days commitment per week for 3-4 months whilst the majority of the content is written. Ongoing contributions are possible as a member of our global Editorial Board. Applicants from all specialties are appreciated, but in particular Cardiology, ENT, Breast (or general) Surgery, Endocrinology, Respiratory, Dermatology and Ophthalmology.

Although you'll work closely with senior clinicians on the Editorial Board, you'll be able to manage yourself to deliver milestones, make significant decisions and shape the clinical content of the Big Picture platform.

A typical day for your new role might look like:

  • Authoring the core content of our clinical knowledge database;
  • Using Big Picture's editing tools to link each disease or condition with it's associated signs, symptoms and risk factors;
  • Ensuring clinical content and disease links are up to date and clinically valid; and
  • Clinically validating the outputs of artificial intelligence systems enabled by your contributions.

You’ll love this role if you:

  • Have always wanted to become a leader in the medical technology world;
  • Have a passion for using the latest technology to transform clinical medicine and improve patient care;
  • Have a growth mindset, a high ownership mentality and a willingness to take responsibility for goals and outcomes;
  • Enjoy using your initiative and experience to identify (or ideally, preempt!) issues, while growing and supporting the team with new ways of thinking;
  • Have excellent clinical knowledge (and the exam results to back it up).
  • Are driven to produce high quality work with superb attention to detail; and
  • Are proud to deliver high-quality solutions.
